Our Mission
The mission of Wired Education Foundation is to help bring all District of Columbia students from kindergarten through high school into the twenty first century by way of digital video, a medium that they understand and enjoy. We chose Discovery Education streaming as the most thorough and comprehensive educational source, because it is in over half of the K-12 schools in the United States and its success has been well documented. We were able to offer almost 50,000 educational video segments of virtually every subject taught in schools and 5000 full features.
Our objective is to offer Discovery Education streaming to boys and girls ages five to twenty in DC Public Schools, DC Public Charter Schools, DC Private Schools, Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington and to the D.C.Youth Rehabilitation Services Center at Oak Hill Academy, a secure juvenile containment facility for males ages fifteen to twenty-one who have been convicted of crimes, and Youth Services Center, a detention facility for juvenile delinquent boys and girls awaiting sentencing.
Discovery Education streaming is being made available to young students from diverse backgrounds. It is in private schools in affluent sections of Washington, as well as public schools in low income areas. We make it available wherever there are young students of elementary, middle, or high school age. Computers and online video presentations have a universal appeal to today's students, and we hope to make the extensive educational material an important part of each student's development.

Discovery Education streaming Video is in over
70,000 schools in the United States.
However, it was not in any DC public schools until September 2006, the Fall Semester at the KIPP Public Charter Schools, when it was introduced by Wired Education. It was a first and now 28 other Public Charter Schools are utilizing Discovery Education streaming, with six more in the process of having it installed.
